The parking area for Corwina can be easy to miss-it looks like someone's driveway. Sitting between the popular (and overcrowded) Lair o' the Bear and O'Fallon Parks, Corwina offers a great little day hike with an impressive view of Mount Evans from Panorama Point. Corwina Park is a small section located off Hwy. One of the best, however, is often overlooked, as it is sandwiched between bigger and more popular parks. The CD player will play MP3 CDs for another option of blasting your MP3 collection without having to use your iPod. There’s also an alarm clock function with a sleep timer as well. In addition to the iPod dock, it’s got a radio and a single disc CD player on the top of the unit. The booming stereo was the source of plenty of noise complaints since the sound extended well past his room, into the halls, and the quad beyond. I can only imagine what it would have been like had he had this system! This unit reminds me a lot of a my husband’s college friend who used to blast AC/DC and They Might Be Giants. Control your music from the remote so you can stand at a non-deafening distance. Think kitchen, home office, a teenager’s room, or the best fit- a dorm room. This unit would be good for listening to music somewhere that doesn’t already have big TV and surround sound speakers. Plug in your iPod to gain access to your music and then crank the giant volume button to get BIG sound from an iPod with rich, deep bass. It’s a typical iPod/iPhone4 dock cable, not Apple’s new lightning cable connector, but unless you have a brand new iPod or iPhone you plan to use, it works great with the iPods and older iPhones from the last several years. On the front of the unit is a panel that drops down to reveal an iPod dock. At first glance when the units are placed side by side, it has the imposing look of an over-sized boom box. The speakers and subwoofer are separate units from the main stereo and it comes with a remote control. In fact, it measures 7.9″ x 15.3″ x 12″, exceeding the height between two standard bookshelves. This is a lot of power and some pretty big speakers for a shelf system. The Sony MHCEC909IP has 540 watts of power that are used to drive two large speakers and a 7.9 inch subwoofer.
